Looking for a Writer

I’m spending nearly all my time on NMK sorting out events, courses and commercial deals - the stuff that actually brings in money - so I need a junior writer who can catch up with internet statistics and research stories, report on events going on in digital London and to talk to key players, so the site is regularly refreshed and interesting.

We’d employ that person for a day-and-a-half a week. However, I’d not want that person in the office after a couple of initial meetings to discuss our news agenda and style. (There’s no desk space, for one thing). That day-and-a-half could potentially be 90 minutes a day, if you see what I mean.

I’d be looking for three original stories in that time space - maybe 1000 words apiece. (My NUJ ideals are in the dust). Ideally, those would be an interview with an interesting web dude(ss), a report on recent research and a London event report. It won’t be well-paid, though it will be paid better than lots of blogging jobs I’ve seen - and will be taxed, since they’d be an employee of the Uni. So realistically, I’m looking for someone who’s just graduated, or has a full-time job in London but likes writing and wants to establish some internet cred, a freelancer who’s covering this scene anyway for other journals and fancies some extra cash, or maybe a very talented trustafarian who likes writing and wants to go to lots of cool events and meet people.

You’ll need to have an interesting online presence already (blogs/social networks/ etc.. you know the score) and send me details of that. If you are that person, email me at delaney.ian@gmail.com. Otherwise, please pass this along to anyone you know who might be interested.
