What I Missed

Not that much it seems. With both Saddam and James Brown dead in the last week, I was expecting major ructions.

Digg has raised another $8.5mn in Series B funding from previous investors Greylock Partners and the Omidyar Network who invested $2.8mn back in November 2005. It’s not yet profitable, apparently.

Google blog search is now getting more traffic than Technorati. Apparently the Google search actually works.

Chinese internet use has grown by 30% (not just over the last week, over 2006…)

Microsoft gave some US bloggers nice laptops preloaded with Vista as a PR freebie. Some people are upset. Most just wish it was them.

The word ‘user’ is starting to rankle. Great quote in the article from Rishad Tobaccowala of Denuo highlighting the negative connotations of the word: “Since when did I become a heroin addict?” Not sure anyone has come up with an acceptable alternative, though.

There’s also a bunch of posts about a new wikimedia foundation search. Early reports seem a tad confusing. Will try to work out what’s happening before my New Year’s drinking obligations kick in.
