Great – I think some of us might have tried to avoid the buzzwords to concentrate more on the ’social’ element. Hope we can make some nice points to leave people stuff to think about and develop in their own time.
Anthony – is it disappointing because it’s all top-down in format, or just because it’s familiar to you, or for what other reason(s)..?

I’ll be clear – I was talking about the game Deidre – and making a joke. Point is the buzzwords ont he cards aren’t really being used. This is an interesting conversation especially (and I’d be blogging if I weren’t commenting):
Matt Locke: Just been doing a six month project to redesign BBC online.
Kim Ploughwright at BBC had a way of explaining social software.
5 key themes
Simple – do one thing very well
Functional – they work
Gregarious – more than social they enocurage sociability
Open – platforms let you adapt them
Evolving – tight feedback loop into user behaviour
Ewan McIntosh contrasts that with typical corporate culture – they are exactly the opposite.
Adriana Cronin-Lukas: social media comes from individuals. Innovation resides with individuals rather than in corporations. It is modular and can be joined up with other stuff.
RS: software and content used to be static. Now it is changing all the time.
RS: gets better because more people use it.
RS: you can put social software on your credit card and expenses it. Reduces the barrier of cost for corporations to take it up.
[Social media will inflitrate brands not the other way around!!!]
ML: Innovation community is interested in how corporations can open up their innovation networks.
Social software has made this possible in a way that just wasn’t possible 4 – 5 years ago.
We are looking at rebuilding the infrastructure so that it is open API, and that we should be more externally facing…
There will be tensions between the self-organising forces of social software and the existing culture of coprorations.
RS: Innovation is coming whether you want it or not. People are bringing their personal technology into the workplace.
RS: There will be change in what work means.
