It seems to have increased massively for me recently. In a year I have had around 6,000 spams, but 2,500 in the last 15 days alone.

There’s a definite snowball effect.
I would say that 90% of that spam was within the last 4 weeks. Bastards.
Still, Akismet means none of it appears on Wordpress sites; Typepad and Blogger sites use visual ID. Why do they bother?
