Bye Bye Blogrolls

Forgive me, but it’s time for me to indulge in a ‘how cool is this!?’ post. Grazr is a very nifty solution to RSS and Blogrolls in a widget. It can work from either a single RSS feed or an OPML file. Pity you can’t add or remove subscriptions on the fly, but you can’t have everything. If it behaves itself, I’ll stick it on its own page in a few days.


Update: Even cooler - it will even work through an RSS feed, launching a new window from the button that is presented.

Just a thought. Does any aggregator generate a live OPML file that I could use to feed Grazr?

Ummmm … I clicked on ‘journalists’ and got a list, but now I want to go back. Which is the ‘back’ button? my guess is the house, but that’s not really how these tree-select boxes usually work.

I had the same problem. There are three answers:

1) the house, as you say
2) the left margin - if you look carefully it’s got some arrows on it
3) the left arrow key on your keyboard.

ah, three-pane view! it becomes an aggregator/newsreader!

only … I already have an aggregator, but what’s really an advance here is to be able to quickly browse the feed of each linked feed so I can decide whether or not I want to drag their URL into my own aggregator. I think there’s some value in that.

For me, it’s the idea of both replacing that big long blogroll and adding newsreader functionality in one power-widget. Apparently, it will also do podcasts, topic searches and youtube videos as well, which could be very useful for some sites.

Also you can preview sites from my blogroll before deciding to visit them, without ‘losing your place’.

Newsgator allows you to publish your feeds in a way that Grazr (and the rest of the world) can read them.

Go into My settings/Edit locations/OPML and select public
